Projects – Our approach

Since its formation in 2010, Sigma Catalyst Partners has been developing and executing a pipeline of projects in our two focus areas. All projects are executed by our senior team with a broad track-record in international business development and strategic M&A advisory projects.

We are currently focused on distress M&A and special situtations opportunities incl. debt workouts and NPL portfolios in cooperation with international investors. We get involved in workout projects where “new money” as equity, mezzannine debt or DIP financing is required and assist sponsors in structuring such solutions. Hospitality, food/agri and light manufacturing are focus sectors in Greecce as well as the region (esp. Romania).

The Greek NPL situation is gradually developing with new international players and servicers entering the market initialy in larger transactions and in cooperation with banks. Our year long investment in market knowledge and business relationships is now showing results as Greek banks have started deleveraging via joint ventures with service companies and investors.

We also expect Greek NPL portfolio sales to intesify in 2018 and continue according to SSM guidelines agreed with banks. While we continue to remain independent from local banking and industrial groups, we have maintained our connections with bank NPL and recovery units, advisors and law firms and have a strong foothold of contacts in the entire NPL market spectrum incl. collections companies, servicers and systems providers.

We add value by leveraging our relationships to create partnering opportunities as we consider co-investment / profit share cooperations schemes to be the best way to “play” the Greek and SEE NPL market. While primarily focused on advisory,  we may selectively commit own capital in transactions, as well as carry our own weight in initial transaction costs. Over 70% of our remuneration is results based or in profit share schemes.

Our knowledge of the Greek PPP/PFI and waste management market, enables to support local and international EPC providers, operators and construction companies interested in this field by offering independent strategic and project finance advisory services. Following 2014, the government has frozen most waste PPP program, however in our view the program shall be continued in 2016 and we remain interested and updated on this sector.
