Seven Greek consortia submitted initial expressions of interest for the last two Attica MSW tenders for Liossia and Fyli in West Attica

The first phase of the competition for the waste processing plant in Fyli was completed on February 6th, with 7 participating consortia.

Among the seven consortia that expressed an initial interest, are most major Greek construction groups, but there was no direct participation of a foreign group despite the significant size of those projects.

The annual quantity of municipal solid waste management of the waste treatment plant at Liossia, is estimated at max. 400,000 tons, while the facility at Fyli will process approximately 700,000 tons. These amounts will be further determined through campetitive dialogue.

Meanwhile, in a letter to the Attica Prefecture, the European Commission (Directorate Genaral for Regional Policy and Planning) requires greater acceleration processes to projects contracted in 2013 in order to secure utilization of EU structural funds, and expresses its full support for the construction of the 4 plants.
